The "Gender Discrimination "

Hello Friends,

Today morning when I was sitting idle after bunking a few classes, a thought randomly crossed my mind. People, now-a-days, shout a lot about “Gender Discrimination”, “Female Empowerment”, “Women Reservation” and what not in this genre. There are a lot of discussions held on this topic, a lot many organizations actively work for the sake of “Women Empowerment”, and they seek to get them reservations in every possible scenario.

But, what occurred to me is, which do we more readily accept, something which occurs naturally or something which is thrust upon us, something that is as we are/that is common or something that is different/alien????

Now, a fact that you must already know is that women have been neck to neck with men in every aspect. At some places they even have been a shade better. There are a numerous examples and quoting a few names might suffice I guess, Kiran Bedi, Kalpana Chawla and many more...

Now here what I want to say is that why do people make such an issue about women empowerment. In my opinion, this harms more than it helps. By giving them reservation, by constantly bickering about women rights they just highlight that they are different, they are weak, they need extra care, etc. When you hear about gender discrimination you think, “Yaar, its true. Girls & women do need help...”. I say, why do they need help??? Are they any different?? They too have as much potential of achieving anything, of doing anything as that of a boy or a man. All these societies, these activities do the contrary of what they aim at.

Now you might ask what in my opinion should people do to improve the current scenario where women are oppressed and girl child is regretted? My answer to that question would be: educate people. Now I say educate people not literate them but educate them. Now literate people are the people having the ability to read and write, and people knowing how to read and write does not much help the situation. But when you educate people, you give them knowledge, you refine their taste, you improve their thinking standard and that my friends is the ticket to end this problem.

Moreover, educating people not only improves the situation with just this problem but many more... It will help develop the nation a great deal.

I say, stop all these activities which are self-destructive in nature, which harm the cause they seek to promote. Educate people and leave the women to struggle for and achieve the position they deserve. This process may take a bit more time but then the position the women will achieve will be worthwhile.

Now friends the idea I have presented here is my personal opinion on this matter and I wish to cause no disrespect to the perspective of others especially those who might be more knowledgeable than me. You may or may not like what I think; some might even find the idea to be foolish, immature or unrealistic. But still, I request you to give a review, what you feel about my point of view.

Thank You for enduring my boring writing...
